~ DANIEL  ACHTERHUIS  BIOGRAPHY ~

Daniel Achterhuis is a 17-year-old Motoring Journalist, YouTuber, and Podcaster with four years of live radio broadcasting experience. Daniel is also a keen photographer of anything with wheels.

Eager to already be one better than the rest, Daniel started his journalism career very early in life at just 10 years old with a live radio show on a community station based in Cheshire 'RedShift Radio' and with occasional columns in the local newspaper. This fuelled his desire even more to become a professional journalist in his adult years. Alongside this and an ongoing successful school career, Daniel has visited the Bentley Showroom in Crewe enjoying a ride in a Flying Spur and the Lamborghini showroom in Edinburgh enjoying a ride in a Huracan Performante, Goodwood FoS and CarFest with much more planned in 2021 and beyond. With all this experience it was a natural progression to start writing articles, firstly on the online motoring platform 'DriveTribe' and then also as a regularly featured writer for some car club magazines particularly 2CVGB and is starting to get some recognition for his work. James May read one of his articles explaining why the Fiat Panda is the greatest car of them all, he also has since met Le Mans driver Tom Kristensen at the launch of the Audi R8 LMS GT2 in July 2019 and is in contact with various well-known people on the internet. Daniel has also written for Auto Italia magazine, gaining more recognition. Currently, Daniel is a writer for the online publication 'Motorcord', where he writes a feature every week about something motor-related.

As RedShift Radio evolved, Daniel by now one of their longest but youngest broadcasters evolved with them and started on a brand new project for 2020: podcasting all about cars, The Piston Podcast. The Piston Podcast is available on every podcast provider and has listeners around the globe. From time to time, Daniel is joined by various guests to chat about motor-related topics and career paths.

Daniel has written for various magazines and newspapers in the past and was very proud to be the youngest Press member for the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed with an exclusive interview with Nick Garton the Automotive PR Manager for the Goodwood Estate. During the 2019 festival, he invited along to the unveiling of a new Audi motor-car.

Aside from journalism and podcasting, Daniel spends a lengthy amount of time behind the camera. He is the founder of the 'Daniel Drives' YouTube channel, where he reviews cars, tinkers with cars, and shares his life-long passion with his growing number of subscribers. In August 2021, he visited Citroen UK's head office in Coventry to review their all-new electric car, the AMI. Daniel is also co-presenter of the 'All Things Auto' YouTube channel with his good friend Matthew Love-Rouse.

Daniel takes any opportunity he can to drive cars and partakes in many experience days and has driven to date a Lamborghini Huracan, Audi R8, Porsche 911 Turbo, Aston Martin Vantage, Nissan GTR, Ford Mustang, Ferrari California, Jaguar F-Type, Renault Scenic, Land Rover Discovery, Mini Cooper S, Citroen 2CV, Fiat Panda 100hp (his dream car of all) and even a Toyota Yaris, the list goes on and on and shows no sign of stopping.
